Non-Standard Deployment Overview
Depending on your organization's needs, you can deploy the C3 Agentic AI Platform in a standard or non-standard infrastructure. In a standard deployment, C3 AI Operations runs Terraform scripts to provision cloud instructure, applies Helm Charts to deploy and install the platform, and assists with final configuration steps to ensure a successful deployment. To learn more about standard cloud deployments, see the C3 AI Installation Guides at https://c3.ai/legal/.
In a non-standard deployment, you provide your own infrastructure, install and apply the required Helm charts with special configurations, and perform the final configuration steps for your organization. For platform maintenance and upgrades, reach out to C3 AI Center of Excellence (CoE) for assistance.
Non-standard deployment options include the following:
- On-premises: You provide your own hardware and might not allow your data outside of your own hardware and network.
- Edge: The smallest on-premises option with less infrastructure requirements, but with lower capabilities. An edge deployment requires many changes and configurations, and might require additional support from C3 AI.
- Non-public cloud: For non-public cloud regions, such as US government classified environments.
On-premises, edge, and non-public cloud are examples of non-standard infrastructures. The platform may function with other non-standard deployments if your organization follows the guidelines in the provided documentation.
Non-standard infrastructure, such as on-premises, may require greater operational support to ensure a successful and stable platform deployment. If your organization intends to deploy the platform with non-standard infrastructure, C3 AI recommends that your organization contracts C3 AI CoE to assist in the installation and ongoing maintenance.
Installation and deployment steps
In a non-standard deployment, a cluster administrator from your organization can install and deploy the platform according to your organization's needs.
See the following documentation to learn how to install and deploy platform:

- Configure a Layer 7 load balancer
- Configure Storage for On-Premises Deployment
- Final Cluster Configuration Steps
The Helm chart and final cluster configuration documentation also describes the steps that C3 AI Operations performs for standard deployments. Use the documentation as guidance for any steps where you need more detail, or if you are a cluster administrator involved in any part of the installation and deployment process.
